The subscription module is used to manage subscriptions to your website and create articles for your subscribers. You can send out emails to all your subscribers from this module.
When you first come into the Subscribe module, you should take note of two portions, the item organizer and the link menu.
- Item Organizer - This is where you can edit
, delete , reset passwords , and deactivate subscribers.
- The link menu - This is where you can link over to view/edit your subscriber list (the intitial page upon entry to this module), create/edit subscription topics (Subscribe topics), and send out emails to your subscribers (Send to subscribers).
To use the subscription module, you must create subscription topics. To do this, click on the 'Subscribe topics' link in the left link menu. This will bring you to the topics page. From here, you will find a visual editor and an item organizer. The item organizer lets you edit topics , delete topics , or activate/deactivate topics . Also, any topic that is being sold or charged for is marked with a money symbol .
The visual editor is used to edit or add topics. The only 'required' information is the 'Name' field. The price field is used to apply a price. If a topic has a price, the customer will have to go through the check-out procedure to subscribe to that topic.
To send out subscription e-mails, click on the 'Send to subscribers' link on the left side. This will bring you to the send out portion of the module. There are two parts, the item organizer and the visual editor. The item organizer can be used to delete or edit subscription messages.
The visual editor has many options for creating send outs to your subscribers.
- Send To: This allows you to choose who to send the message to; active subscribers, inactive subscribers, or both.
- Put into queue: If checked, the message will be saved and sent out the next time that the program does maintanance. Otherwise the email is sent immediately.
- Topic: This allows you to select whether to send out to all subscribers or only those subscribed to a specific topic.
- Attach File: This allows you to attach a small file to the email. Only 'safe' attachments can be sent, unsafe attachments (*.EXE files for example) will not send.
- Message Subject: This is where you put the subject for the email.
- Store in history: If checked, the message will be stored in history for later review or re-sending.
- Use plain text format only: This will make the email send out in plain text, removing all formating and html code.
- Send images as links: This will make the email use link references for images instead of actually including the actual images.
- Send test letter to...: This will send the email to the email address in the text box. It is suggested to do this with every subscription you send out before you send it out to your subscribers.
